Courses

Our courses are designed to equip people at all levels with the necessary skills to minimise incidents in the workplace.

TETA-accredited forklift training for South African businesses — safer operators, legal compliance, and practical on-site delivery.

Our forklift training course is designed for businesses that need to train or retrain forklift operators safely, efficiently, and in line with their occupational health and safety obligations. We work primarily with employers, HR and training managers, and safety officers responsible for meeting compliance requirements under the OHS Act.

Whether you need training for new operators, refresher training for staff with expiring certificates, or on-site delivery for a team at your premises, we can assist. We offer forklift training nationwide across South Africa, with a strong footprint in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and East London.

Why businesses choose our forklift training

Forklift training is not simply a certification requirement — it plays a direct role in reducing preventable incidents and improving operational standards. A well-trained operator is better equipped to inspect the machine correctly, handle loads safely, work within rated capacities, and respond to hazards appropriately.

Key reasons employers choose us:

  • TETA-accredited training provider
  • Supports legal compliance under the OHS Act
  • On-site training available — train staff at your own premises
  • Practical training aligned to real workplace conditions
  • Suitable for individual operators or larger teams
  • Refresher training available for expiring certificates
  • Competitive pricing

What the forklift training covers

This course is structured around the SAQA unit standard for operating a counterbalanced lift truck (US 242974, NQF Level 3). Training develops the practical skills and knowledge operators need to work safely and effectively in a workplace environment.

Training includes:

  • Forklift controls and operating principles
  • Pre-use and post-use inspections
  • Identifying faults and reporting defects
  • Load handling, classification, and stability
  • Safe lifting, moving, stacking, and unloading
  • Operating in line with workplace safety procedures
  • Shutdown and secure parking procedures
  • Practical operator assessment
  • Refresher and reassessment requirements where applicable

Forklift classes covered: F1, F2, F3 and F4

The SAQA unit standard for counterbalanced lift trucks covers four capacity categories:

  • F1: Rated capacity up to 3 000 kg
  • F2: Rated capacity up to 7 000 kg
  • F3: Rated capacity up to 15 000 kg
  • F4: Rated capacity above 15 000 kg

Operators should be trained on the class that matches the machine they will be using. If you are unsure which class applies, include this in your enquiry and we will advise.

Who this forklift course is for

This course is aimed primarily at businesses and organisations that need forklift operators trained or retrained as part of their workplace safety and compliance programme.

We regularly work with:

  • Manufacturing and production facilities
  • Warehousing and logistics operations
  • Mining companies
  • Transport and distribution businesses
  • Wholesale and retail operations
  • Construction companies
  • Agricultural, farming, and export businesses
  • Schools, universities, and property management organisations

On-site forklift training for companies

We offer on-site forklift training for businesses that want their staff trained at their own premises. This reduces logistical disruption, allows operators to be assessed in a familiar working environment, and is often the most practical option when training multiple employees at once.

On-site training is available nationwide. Include your site address in your quote request and we will confirm availability.

Forklift training locations

We offer forklift training nationally and frequently operate in:

  • Johannesburg
  • Pretoria
  • Durban
  • Cape Town
  • Port Elizabeth
  • East London

Training at other locations is also available. Contact us to confirm availability in your area.

Refresher training and repeat business need

Forklift certificates are valid for two years. Operators are required to attend a refresher training course within three months of the expiry date. This makes forklift training an ongoing compliance requirement for most employers — not a once-off exercise.

Refresher training is relevant when:

  • A certificate has expired or is approaching expiry
  • An operator has been inactive and needs to be retrained
  • An employer wants to reconfirm competency standards
  • Internal compliance records need to be kept up to date

Yes. Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers are required to ensure that machinery is operated by competent persons. Forklift operators are expected to be adequately trained and assessed as competent before operating lifting equipment in the workplace. Accredited training provides documented evidence of competency and supports an employer’s compliance obligations under the Act.

Yes. Our forklift training is accredited with the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA). The course is aligned to SAQA Unit Standard 242974 (Operate counter-balanced lift truck), NQF Level 3, 7 Credits.

The F classes refer to the rated load capacity of the counterbalanced forklift. F1 covers machines rated up to 3,000 kg, F2 up to 7,000 kg, F3 up to 15,000 kg, and F4 covers machines with a capacity above 15,000 kg. Operators should hold a certificate for the class that corresponds to the machine they operate in your workplace.

A forklift certificate is valid for two years from the date of assessment. Operators are required to attend a refresher training course within three months of the expiry date. Employers are responsible for tracking certificate expiry dates and arranging timely renewal for their staff.

Yes. We offer on-site forklift training for companies that prefer to train staff at their own workplace. This reduces travel, limits disruption to operations, and allows operators to be assessed in the environment they actually work in. It is particularly practical when training multiple operators at the same site. Include your location and requirements in your quote request.

Our primary focus is on businesses and organisations that need accredited workplace training for their employees. If you are an individual operator whose employer has asked you to arrange training, contact us and we will advise on the most appropriate option.

Pricing depends on the number of operators, the forklift class required, your location, and whether you need on-site delivery or training at a centre. Use the Request a Quote button to send through your requirements and we will provide a competitive quote.
